rights of the Old McBrayer Whiskey brand name. I do not need information on past owners but instead information about who owns the brand name now, and how I can contact them. I would hope any information would be confirmed first before answer; thanks.
I have done a little searching and have been led to Jim Beam but am unsure whether this is correct. As far as I know the whiskey was bottled in Kentucky.

Here's the trademark mark entry for Old McBrayer whiskey:
Old McBrayer
Serial Number: 71240735
Registration Number: 226667
http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&entry=71240735
Serial #: 71240735

Thus, National Distillers and Chemical Corp. was the last registered owner of the Old McBrayer trademark.

In 1997, Quantum Chemical Corp. became known as Millennium Petrochemicals Inc.

As indicated above, National Distillers and Chemical Corp. sold its liquor business to American Brands, Inc, in 1988. In 1997, American Brands became Fortune Brands. See: ://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=%22american+brands%22+%22fortune+brands%22+1997&btnG=Search

Again, though, even if the Old McBrayer brand was part of the sale by National Distillers and Chemical Corp to American Brands (now Fortune Brands), the Old McBrayer trademark was allowed to expire and is now considered "dead" by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Thanks.
"A dead or abandoned status for a trademark application means that specific application is no longer under prosecution within the USPTO, and would not be used as a bar against your filing. It does not necessarily mean that there are not other marks that might be in use in commerce (i.e., certain marks can be dead or abandoned, but are still in use in commerce)" http://www.mycorporation.com/trademark/tmsearchfaq.htm#dead
Getting back to Old McBrayer, would you consider the name of company that was assigned the brand in 1957 (along with current contact information) an acceptable answer to this question?
